FMX has very limited parts selection, street shift kits only I think. Race torque converters would have to be specially built.
C-4's can be built to be quite durable depending on your setup.

Need more details.

don't even think about a c6, for about the same money you could have a serious "PRO-STREET STYLE" FMX.

-the FMX will free up so much horse power while make you go faster
-trust me the FMX trans can withstand 8,000 rpm neutral drops with a monster 460 engine while the c6 in my car unfortunately blew up

After my c6 explosion, i'm truly an FMX fan
Dude you are out of control!

This disclaimer if for the rest of you normal people out there. NEVER, EVER NEUTRAL DROP ANY TRANS NO MATTER HOW STRONG YOU THINK IT IS.

The FMX can handle moderate HP, but as Mario said, the aftermarket is limited on FMX stuff. It's not going to handle big HP.

Depending on the motor you have, the C6 can be built to handle big power. It is big and heavy and robs HP is you have a smaller engine. The C4 is a better choice in that case.

Re: FMX good or bad

Very limited parts selection and weak case on the FMX. FMX cases tend to crack by the servo. C-4 trans are lighter with less rotating mass to rob power. Lots of people running in the 9's w/ C-4's when built with good parts. Bellhousings available to mate a C-4 to FE and 385 series engines as well as the late model Romeo and Windsor series SOHC's and DOHC's. If you have to have a stronger trans, then a C-6 is the way to go. The C-6 is pretty bulletproof in almost any application. Very hard trans to break. Swapping a few parts w/ a later model E4OD trans will also give a C-6 very nice gear ratios. You would probably be best to consider the FMX a boat anchor and convert to one of the other transmissions.

I built one that held up to a 408W stroker. Not much more than 400 hp but with a nice converter, manual v-body it worked well!
