Dennis, are you running a carb spacer? If so, what size and type?
I ask because my Vic Jr is pretty tall under the stock flat hood but I think
I may be able to fit a 1/2" spacer of some type under there.
I dig the look of the empty grill. I did the same to mine years ago.

It is neat seeing picture of your car in action, although it is more fun to be in the car during the action.

Our track is pretty active in the way of photos, and they often post our cars on their website (
Beaver Springs Dragway - IHRA Summit Drag Racing) after each weekend's events. The track owner is a True Blue Oval guy. The only event that wasn't rained out this week was the Saturday T&T.
With my 351 block, I really can't run a spacer on the Vic Jr. I do have about 3/16" of gaskets and an old Z28 type heat shield between the carb and the manifold.
Supposedly, Vic Jr typically like a 1" spacer. Spacer results vary from motor to motor. If you could fit the 1/2" spacer, you should try it. In particular try to use one of those Plastic/Phenolic spacers which help keep the carb cooler.
Your car is sweeet--nice track times too! Reminds me of my first Mustang, which was Candy Apple red.
