TCI transmissions are good to go. I would recommend you use a ratchet shifter. Your going to have to manually change gears and using the old sloppy factory column shifter will get old fast.

Re: Tci Transmissions

I haven't used a C6 but I was looking at a TCI C4. I was told by the local speed shop to stay away from TCI One of the owners has a TCI turbo 400 in his camaro and has had a lot of problems with it . I am using a modified stock C4 now but I will be switching to a race tranny before next season . From all the information I have gathered ,I will be going with a BROADER performance built unit .

Re: Tci Transmissions

My brother is using the TCI Full manual 727 bigblock trans for his dodge dart with a 440 engine. every one told him to stay away from TCI but we got it because our speed shop had a presidents day sale and so far its held up nice and does what its suppose to. I thought this "stay away from TCI" was only a mopar thing so thats why i asked... any way what other choices are there for a c6 other than TCI and performance automatic?

Re: Tci Transmissions

TCI also gave us the dyno sheet for the big block 727 that we ordered & a bunch of papers saying who built it and what went in. The dyno sheet told us the main line pressures etc... etc... Also because the trans was dyno'ed that meant that it was broken in.

Re: Tci Transmissions

Doug 's tranny came with the dyno sheetsand who built it , This didn't stop the planetary gears from Comming apart after only 25 passes . Doug said the Low ratio gears look like the ones from a turbo 200.

Re: Tci Transmissions

I sell TCI converters and some transmission too. I have NEVER had one problem with anything I have got from them.. Remember this though, The better racy stuff cost quite a bit more than the street stroke stuff. I got a full race powerglide for an 1100 HP BB Chevy and it has been working for two or three years now.

Re: Tci Transmissions

TCI's are good tranys.. Id go with a c-4 instead of the c-6. The c-6 takes more HP to run and the c-4 can be built to handle just about any HP. Iv been running the same c-4 in Midnight Angel for over 20 years. I had it built at Advance Transmissions in Rancho Cordova, CA. Yea, I cant believe its been together that long either. I had Jim go though it just recently, he said everything looked good, just needed new clutchs and a band.
BTW, it never fails, you will always hear more bad then good when asking about any type of machine shop.

Re: Tci Transmissions

I haven't used a TCI tranny. I have used their converters with good success.

I have a C6 built by Broader Performance. It is the 700 hp model. I am very happy with it.

Just FYI,
