NHRA stock classes- does anyone understand this stuff?
Hey All:
I was looking through the rules for the NHRA stock classes and I can't make heads or tails of it.
If, say, you wanted to race a 66 427 Fairlane, does that mean you'd have to start with an actual R code car, or could you dump a 427 into a 289 car?
Also, would you actually have to find a $$$ side oiler block, or could you use any FE block that would take the correct rotating assembly?
Also, could you run a K-code 289 in a 66 fairlane, even though that engine wasn't offered in the Fairlane that year (but it was offered in the Mustang).
Its interesting but weird. Its like they're trying to exclude people by make the rules super intricate and hard to decipher.
Any help is appreciated.
Steve
