12.72 model a p/u

I have SLOWLY been building a 347 for a friend of mine.It finally went in his 30 model a p/u and we went and ran it at a nostalgia race last weekend. The engine is a .040 347 with Scat/Probe internals(which I will never purchase again for total lack of customer service),a Schneider solid flat tappet cam and World Windsor SR. heads, and tri-power setup,C4 trans with a 2500 convertor and 3.50 gears. My friend had never been on a dragstrip and on his second pass ever he ran a 12.72 @ 87mph lifting at half track and again at the end when the truck was going sideways. After doing a good burnout on the pie crust cheater slicks it was running 13.00 @ 103mph w/ a 60ft. in the 1.90's.When he asked me how it sounded going down the track I told him it sounded like he was short shifting. He said after the 12.72 pass he was leaving it in drive to get used to the truck so it was shifting at 4000-4500?Now he is addicted and we are going to get better slicks and some more gear.I also never checked the timing after I set the initial at @ 14 degrees on the day we fired it up and have never checked the advance.I can't wait to see what happens when we get to spend a little time tuning.I wish I had some pics but my camera batteries took a crap right after we got to the track. No action shots but I will take some pics of the truck when I see it again next weekend.
