That's impressive power from a 289. Must get spendy putting high zoot gas in that sucker.

Which Comp Cam is that you're running?

Runs on 91 octane until the bottle's on. But my dyno run was with 91 and the small shot. That comp cam is the 31-641-5, oops, specs at 265 and 276 at .050. And would you belive no piston to valce clearance probs at all. The domes hit the heads but not the valves.

Very impressive! Those windsor jr's seem to be pretty good heads, contrary to some opinions. Mine seem to be excellent on my engine.

I had a very similar 289 once, 030 over, 11:1 compression, pro ported 351w heads with 1.94/1.60's, similar solid cam(don't remember the exact specs...this was almost 10 years ago), matched Victor Jr intake, and a 750cfm Edelbrock. I never ran it on the bottle, and never put a drop of race gas into it. Solid 92 octane. It never even considered detonating lol...even during our hot Phoenix summers.

I dropped it into a 67 coupe...about 3100lbs, with a 4.10 9" and a toploader. I only got it to the track one time...where it ran a 12.20 on 295/50/15 BFG's, on the Hoosier Dirt tires I got 11.80's at about 118mph. Those little 289's flat rock. I never discount stories from guys about what their 'lil 289's did...I've been there =).
