My 331 Dyno Round 1

Let me start this off by saying that I had bought an Accell Billetproof distributor to go with my Jacobs Ignition because my stock distributor with a petronix unit wasn't advancing at all and I put it in Friday about 6pm. The accell lasted about 20 miles and then completely crapped out on me, and I had to put the stock dizzy back in and run it at the dyno Saturday morning. So this is just a baseline with no tuning. After I get an MSD set-up, I'm going to go back, and then we'll tune the motor.

The guy said he was really impressed by the torque curve, and was convinced there was at least another 30-50 more hp in the motor with proper timing and carb tuning. I'm really surprised how much more torque this motor has than hp, but I guess that could be also becuase of a lack of distributor advancing. After the first pull he said that it's a 12 second car, so can't wait to get this thing tuned. He also said the motor sounds really good, and didn't believe me at first when I told him this was the first motor I'd built. Really cool guy, if anybody is in the SF Bay Area and wants a dyno session, give him a call.

I knew it would make more than we were guessing. "Nice baseline" sounds a little weak!

Yeah, seriously. Naw, just kidding. It drives just like I want it do for a street car. Want to be fast enough to beat most cars on the street (even new Vette's), but still be totally driveable and get decent mileage. Looks like mission accomplished. We'll see the final numbers after the new distributor and tuning.

Does this place have a phone #? Nobody here can dyno tune my car and I need it done. Or at least what they charge to dynotune a carbed car per hour.

707 425-Dyno is on top of the dyno sheet...that may be it? ...where are you from 472 mach 1? I am in sacramento, and I have a 460, 1971 fast back I just bought.

Interesting. I thought I was the only one in Sacramento with a 460 powered Mach 1. Its a '72 and I live in Laguna West actually but its 5 minutes from Sacramento.
