Re: PRO COMP ALUMINUM HEADS
Well I might be wrong in this case. Maybe the clutch isn't doing much for you yet? Good performance increase either way. Too bad changing the clutch isn't as simple as changing plugs.
I will be going with a Soft Lok or counter weighted long style pressure plate from Ram with the new engine. Sintered iron disc of course. Wish they were cheaper!

I'm locked all the time. Thats the beauty of Jerico, no need to hit the clutch for up shifts, no lost time, no slippage

I got all the Ram parts (short of the Ram SFI steel flywheel which I already owned) for around $750 delivered from Summit. That was PP, disc, those friggen' expensive required studs, and the adjustment washer kit. Summit price matches--some Ram website prices were much lower at the time compared to Summit. I got it all at the lower price. Expect 3-4 week delivery time so plan accordingly.
Just be sure that you get counterweights as an option as it is expensive to have the PP redone.

Show-Off!!!!!
The Jerico would be great for the track, but I believe its street manners are a little lacking. Still wish I had one laying around though. . . . . .

Re: PRO COMP ALUMINUM HEADS
Well, I got a nice bonus the other day and thanks to Dennis, Joe, and Frdnut I just couldn't resist pulling the trigger on a set of AFR 205's that are port-matched up to a flow-balanced Victor Jr. intake. The chambers are 58cc which will also increase my compression a little. Now its time to see what this 424 is really capable of!
Just don't tell my wife that I got a bonus!!!

Obviously there's no sense in doing a lot of tuning on it now, but I just may take it to the dyno and see what kind of number it makes the way it is. It's $75 to make three pulls at Carter Racing here in town. I'd be curious to see the difference for myself.
If my wife finds out, I need someone to blame!!! Hmmm... I'm pretty sure that there are subleminal messages streaming across my computer screen!

Re: PRO COMP ALUMINUM HEADS
Dennis the Jerico is actually more street able than you would think. I had the same mis conception before I got it too. Other than having the noise of a Cup car, they really aint that difficult to down shift when you get the road race sliders installed. Best thing is it doesnt cost anything for Jerry to throw them in .

If he doesn't have it dyno'd with the Pro Comps, we'll have to call his wife and let her know about the eh, "bonus." After all, it shouldn't be too hard to find a Mrs. "kgordonl" in the Savannah phone book . . . . . .
It would be pretty cool to do a back to back comparison, especially after each combo has been tuned. I have a feeling that the big Windsor will be scary fast with the 205's and the Vic Jr!

Re: PRO COMP ALUMINUM HEADS
Ah C'mon, you guys wouldn't tell on me would you???
I know... I'll blame it on Steven Rupp! He's the guy that built the 408 with AFR 205's and the exact same cam as mine. When I saw him making 552HP at 5900rpm and over 500 in torque from 3900 rpm on up, I knew a set of AFR 205's were in my future! Check out the article: Complete 408 Stroker Engine Build - Popular Hot Rodding Magazine
