Another Ford 400 took 5th place this year, just ahead of Kaase's 850hp Boss motor. He said part of what makes the 400 ideal for this competition is it's tall deck height. It allows for a big stroke and longer intake runners than the 351C.
I hate to say the 2nd place Chevy LS engine impressed me. I know very little about them, but to lose by less than 2 points when running just a single 4V...I have to give credit where it's due.

I agree, I have been a Ford enthusiest for roughly 40 years and am happy to see Kaase win, but the LS type GM motors are very impressive. They look strangely familier, having no ugly assed siamese exhaust ports.
Two things I really like about LS motors is the cam is where it should be, and it's less than ten foot wide!
Sorry Bassboat.
