However, if you're happy with it then it is a beautiful car regardless.

Actually I have no choice but to be relatively happy considering the price of having some custom headers made and a new exhaust system without all the bends which you know take away even more power. Don't worry, I'll think of something for this bad boy. I have some options.

I might just take the engine out and put it the comet which is all ready set up with cut shock towers, I have a new 750 Bigs carb, the crites headers, the oil pan because I had to get a new reverse pan for the falcon because of the Hedits mustang 2 system, 9in posi, disc brakes all around, fiberglass fenders and hood, baby c-6 manual valve body tranny. Anyway, I really appreciate the advice from everyone. Thanks again.

It seems like the Hooker 6208 Super Comps for 64-70 Mustangs might work for your Falcon or perhaps the D669Y Doug's Headers. Maybe another Falcon owner can chime in on options for headers.

Ok here's the problem with that idea. I have a flaming river steering wheel shaft that is in the way. I just took two pictures of headers. The first is looking down on drivers side at the engine bay with headers. The second is taken from underneath the car and you can see how small the collector is and also the exhaust pipe.

I know you trying hard to help me and again I do appreciate it very much.

Told Ya! Enjoy it. I am compelled once again to say it is a beautiful car.

DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH about the bigger headers making lots of differance. I have tested hundreds of engines and the bigger headers is NOT WHERE IT AT, BELIEVE ME. If you can remove you pipes and mufflers, that will show you how much you MIGHT be missing. In most cases like yours, going to the ultamate header is going to gain you ABOUT 15 HORSEPOWER---THAT ALL- Big headers are very OVER RATED by people who dont know better--SAVE YOUR MONEY

Well I can appreciate what your saying Joe but here is what I don't understand. Now, I could ask the other guys who told me that with the proper headers and exhaust pipes that correctly fit on the heads of this 351w motor I would gain 40 to 50hp. You say "no" so how do you reconcile this difference of opinion? Thanks!

I have 40 years of dyno testing, and they have NONE

That's all I wanted to know Joe. So after reading what I stated about the car and the dyno results (which I know is an honest read) including where I live would you say that 375hp out of the rear wheels is pretty good? I must say the dyno guy and my mechanic said they would be very happy with the results. As well from reading the many post on different sites regarding dyno testing a lot of guys seem to inflate the numbers for some reason? As for me, I'm a "realist" and prefer to go with the truth of the facts. Thanks again Joe.

Re: Dyno results of 408 falcon today

I was simply basing my statement on the fact that my car picked up 19 RWHP and 22 RWTQ by going from 2.5" pipes to 3" pipes. Both were with Hooker 6208 Super Comp headers, an X-pipe, and Magnaflows. Only other difference is the 2.5" pipes went over the rear axle and the 3" pipes go under the rear axle.
I was speculating that with shorty style small tube headers and 2.25" pipes, opening up the exhaust would have a much greater effect.

Re: Dyno results of 408 falcon today

I know a lot of people do not want to hear this, but chassis dyno numbers are almost worthless. It is kind of like a car speedometer, it tells you something, but it is probably not ezxactly correct. Most cars with an automatic trans loose anywhere up to 40 percent from an engine dyno to a chassis dyno. When I saw a guy put 20 pounds more air in his rear tires and pickup 25 horsepower on a chassis dyno, I knew that something was not right.I have tested headers so many times I can keep count. From one header to another is never a big horsepower deal. On a 1000 HP engine, it MIGHT make 25 HP differance. Think about it. That is two and one half percent-- on 400 HP , that would be 8 to 10 HP. Not worth spending goobs of monet on.. Case in point..552 HP 347 engine, someone talks the guy into custom made headers, bigger pipe with a step from 1 & 3/4 to 1 & 7/8 -- spent 1000 dollars ( after header coating ) the car ran EXACTLY THE SAME, or a tiny bit SLOWER
