iv'e spent 1 and a half years building a custom 63 fairlane sport coupe. bright red, custom interior, dropped front, c4, 302, 9" lincoln diswc rear, grenade front disks, the works.
it comes down to start up day ...and i got nothing. i CANT GET PAOWER TO THE STARTER. i didi nothing to the ignition switch or the starting circut that i can think of. the c4 had the factory nuetral switch but all the wires were cut. it statred fine befor i began my build up.
i built a custom console with a hurst pro-matic. what connection should i be looking for to get power from the ignition switch to the starter. all the accesories are working all my new guages are activating.

there isnt a click sound like you would find with a weak battery. the headlights work the wipers work.

theres just no response from the start position on the ignition switch. its like when you not in park or nuetral. once again like i said befor the c4 thats in the car never hd the factory c4 switch hooked up. is there a nuetral start switch in the 63 schematic somewhere that i'm not aware of?

there are two wires going to the selinoid. red w/.blue and solid brown/ i tried switching the wires between the two posts and get no results. the hurst shifter i installed
gives wiring diagrams for neutral start switches. i'm not sure if the 63 even has that in mind. i found a 60 wiring schematic that shows one in the brown lead to the selonoid. should i splice into that? damn i'm lost

MY first thing to try would be to insure that the car is in neutral and isnt going anywhere and "Jump" the neutral safety switch.

i think i would jump the solniod to see if the starter worked. The wires are cut on the safety switch.I think you still have to cross two wires on the safety switch.I didnt have to deal with that cause my 64 didnt have one

Try hot wiring it. Grab a long piece of wire and put one side to the positive battery, and the other side to the positive on the coil. Make sure the wire doesnt hit the fan or anything and make sure the car is blocked. It could jump if it starts. Worth a shot.

Ok guys. Thanks for all the comments. on the top side of the steering column on a 63 ford is the original nuetral start switch and the backup light switch. i disconnected the jumpers to the switch. i routed the new shifter back up lights to the existing harness, and i bypassed each side of the nuetral start swith from the new shifter now she cranks righ tup. DAMMMNNN what a sweet sound. I've been waiting a year and a half to hear it.
