429 into a 289 Fairlane?

I've got a 289 Fairlane that I'm restoring for when I turn sixteen, and I've seen some good prices on some 429s, you would have to move out the shock wells to put one of these into an origional 289 Fairlane, right? How hard is this to do?

429 into a 289 Fairlane?

I have a 347 in my 68 Fairlane right now. I'm going to be dropping in a stroked 460 in it soon. I'm going to have a mustang II front suspension installed so I could have the shock mounts cut out. I assume this is what you are talking about?

I've got a 67 and just put in a 460 bored to 472. It was a tight fit but did it without hacking on shock towers. AutoKrafters and Crities were the places I got all my conversion parts, headers ect. Good luck, Tim T

I did this swap about 8 years ago. I used mounts and headers from Total Performance in MI. Everything fit real well.I had to slot the trans mounting holes in the c4 cross member to use a c6. I used a 3 row radiator from a late 70s T-Bird[homemade mounts]and one of those cheap black plastic fans. It cooled even during August in Alabama
