Just Strokin...your help..

Larry,TboltII here I guess I could use the post U wrote to desertdroog about making a 9" rear for my car,I thought U might be using a K-code rear housing , and if anybody else has a K-code 9" housing mabe they could give some of the measurements, flange to flange or from the outside of the drum to drum Thanks TboltII

Just Strokin...your help..

I located a housing that some one had cut down to 49.5" wide flange to flange of the housing. It made the rear from brake drum to brake drum about 54.5 wide. This allows a little better selection of wheels in the long run. I did have to get axles from Moser for it and I am going to run drum brakes in the rear.

I also got a set of the offset spring shackles for the rear. This moved the rear of the spring inboard about 0.80" on each side and also lets me run a tad wider tire in the stock wheel well.

Now, with all that said, I have yet to buy wheels and tires since I have been working on other things getting the car ready.

I ordered the A body shackles. I am not sure if the B or E would have been better since I had to shim one side with 4 1/2" flat washers since they are 3" wide on both ends.

I also found them cheaper by using one of the parts search engines. They were about $42 shipped to me from NJ.

All the fiberglass parts I have come from Crites. They make them at their place in Ohio. Nothing is farmed out. Very good quality on all the parts I have bought from them.If you can wait till April and go there to the Ford swap meet, you can save shipping. Their place is about 10 miles from the Fair grounds.

I know this is different from what you guys are doing but when i had my car set up for the ladder bars/coil overs we took the the inner wheel tub cut 6 notches then stretched over to the frame rail and re-welded it gained about another 2 1/2 inches. we also had to put strips in place where it was streched, and that let me be able to get a true 10.5 tire under the car plus we had moved the rear back
like 3" when doing this. Since i ran rear disc the length of 9" was all custom done. To look in the trunk now most people would never even know it has been done. maybe this might help a little.
