1966 Fairlane Console

I have run across several replies to classified ads of Fairlanes for sale in which people interested in the car want to know if the car has a console. Are consoles hard to come by, or a desireable item? I have no idea, so I am hoping someone can shed some light on it for me. If they are desireable, I would be curious to know if manual consoles more desireable than automatic, or vise versa? What does a console on good condition usually sell for?

4 speed consoles are worth more because they made limited 4speed cars, and the plate is different. Nice condition ones go for may 2-300 or so, if there buggered up (cut,modified,etc.) considerably less. If a FM guy wants it, give the best deal possible, or put it on ebay for max coin.

Consoles were available only in XL and GT '66 Fairlanes. I'm not sure of their value.

Consoles for 1966 Fairlanes come up fairly regularly on EBay but at prices $200-$300 or more. I myself am looking for a console for my 1966 GT but am reluctant to pay these prices. I cannot speak for others, but I look and occasionally post a message looking for a console in the hopes that I can find one at a reasonable price.
