64 c4 tranny swap

I'm wanting to swap a c4 auto in place of my 3 spd man. Does anyone know from what years and what models a donor tranny can be obtained? How bout the case length i should be looking for? Any info would be much appreciated. [img]/phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img]

What you first need to establish is if you have a 5 or 6 bolt block. If you have a 6 bolt just about any c-4 will work. If you have a 5 bolt block you have to find a 5 bolt trans or a bellhousing to convert a 6 bolt trans with. These 5 bolt trannys are real hard to come by.

theres no difference in the trans.Its the bell and block plate thats diff.A 64 case fill C4 is the same as a 79 as far as bolting it to the bell goes

Ok so what about the existing tranny crossmember in my fairlane? Will the auto bolt up to the same one as my 3 spd man, or would i have to replace it completely, or modify it?

it will bolt right up.Mine was a 260/3spd then a 302/3spd then 4spd and now a 460/C5.All with the orignal crossmember
