NeutronBomb1955: Headers for 351C?

I saw your header pics (from a link in another post) for the 351C in the '64. Where did you get your headers, or did you build them yourself? Are the mounts/isolators stock?

Thanks,
Brian

NeutronBomb1955: Headers for 351C?

I found the headers for sale, new, never used. However, they do not fit the stock 64 Fairlane chassis.
I'm guessing they are for Mustangs and Falcons. They are multi-piece headers, 2" primary, 3 1/2" collectors. Tubes 1, 2, and 5 go forward and under the lower control arms, 3, 4, 6, 7 route between the steering linkage and the engine mounts, 8 is just behind the steering linkage.

The Crites headers for 351W and BBF route way behind the steering linkage.

That isn't what I wanted. I lucked out and found some that were very close to what I wanted. I did have to slightly shorten 2 tubes. Routing this way keeps the tubes a little shorter and a little closer together in length. I think it looks cooler too.

To get it all to work, I relocated the lower control arm mounts forward 1.25" (made a fixture locating off the lower ball joint grease zert, then just clocked the control arm forward about 4 degrees). Cut 1.75" off the back of the engine mount/lower control arm mount frame part and plated the backside of it to make it look mostly stock.

The engine is lowered about 1/2". The limited factor was the centerlink hitting the oil pan. Its in the stock location fore/aft.

The mounts are a Prothane Mustang mounts with the ears cut off. I welded them to the lower part of the stock Fairlane mounts.

A buddy of mine said JR used to have headers for the Fairlane. Maddog Headers bought out the JR tooling.

I never called Maddog to verify all that. 517.869.2308 cell: 517.250.4480

If you call, let me know what they say. Just curious.

NeutronBomb1955: Headers for 351C?

Thanks for the reply. The main issue with the 351C is that there is only around 1.5" from the exhaust port to the UCA bracket. So you need a header primary that sweeps down from the flange quick at a sharp angle (like yours).
If I can find out what application sweeps down like that, I could buy a cheap set, get some J-bends and make my own. I know that '70/71 Torino headers won't work- I tried them.
The other option is to raise the engine enough to get a straight shot at the exhaust port, over the UCA. Then, a pre-welded flange kit (like Hooker's) could be used in conjunction with J or U-bends.
