Concurs or Restomod?

Hi all,

I just rescued this 1967 Fairlane 500 and am trying to decide if to go back original or modded. By the data plate it used to have a 3 speed manual but now has an automatic. Its also a C code 289 but now has a 650 Holley. The color was Aqua with a vinyl top. In short, no real show stopper.

Value wise do these cars bring more restored no matter how plain, or do the modified do just as well? Not that I'm restoring this just to sell it, but I figure If I'm going to put the money in it I would rather add to its value than take away.

Thanks

It's already been altered so I would do restomod it. Put your own personal touches to it. There are lots of 289 cars out there so it's not that valuable as a restored one.

I'm doing the exact same thing, except my '67 isn't gonna be a restomod, it's being built as a street terror-weekend warrior race car type.

My personal feelings, a concourse 1967 289 3 spd. (same thing I have) car isn't going to be worth as much as something that's been taken care of and modified.

Now if it was an R code car, the sucker would be getting restomodded, right down to the dogdish hubcaps!

Just my $.02, but like mentioned earlier, it's YOUR car, so do what makes YOU happy with it. Put a little bit of your "soul" into the car, and it'll be YOUR car, not just a '67.
