1966 Fairlane window trim removal

I have a 1966 Fairlane hardtop that has a leaking rear window seal. To replace it I first need to remove the stainless trim surrounding the window. Has anyone done this? Any special tools or tricks? Thanks, Dave.

on the outter edge of the trim stick a small flathead or 1/2 inch hack saw blade with the end cut off in there feeling for the clips that are holding it in place. then wedge the screwdriver or saw blade between the clip and the body twist your wrist(side prying) or just lever it out away from the body and pull on the trim it will pop off, save the clips they are better than the new ones that are hard to get on, but stang clips work they are the same as 67stang if i recall, this area is very rust prone so seal it with rust bullet inside and out prior to putting the new seal, if you do use rust bullet, dont do it if it is wet outside and do two coats it will never get penetrated ever again! also get a friend to help with the new seal, they arent ez! also take pics of the old seal prior to taking it out case some folks put the seal backwards in the window, it goes on but wont seal. good luck its ez once you see.
oh btw work yourself around the window as there are many clips i think like 16 to 20, and to put it back on just press em back on the clips.

I dont mean to jump in on your question without all the answers, But my front windshield comes off just like TSCowboy says. You can tell which piece is on top and which piece comes off first. My problem right now is....I have all the sides and bottom off, but the top is not comming off that easillt and I dont want to break anything. I dont know what to do now. I see that I could get a wire between the glass and trim to remove the glass. Will the top chrome trim come out with the glass or should I get the chrome off first?

get the chrome off first, you must do it carefully, but wedge a thin strong piece of tool inbetween the clip and the metal body(you have to slide it in there) this is harder to explain than it is to do, but you can pull hard and it will pop off, just wiggle it, see you arent trying to remove the clips, they stay in place usually, or try wedging it from the other side of the trim. the clips are around the outter perimeter of the trim. 120 mph would get them off! the clips are barely holding em.(sorta)

Yep! There's little "pins" that hold those clips, and those are on the body. So if you try to take the windshield out without taking that stainless trim piece off first, it's gonna get ugly in a hurry.

Cowboy is right, harder to explain than it is to do.
