steering boxes

I have '66 f-lane with manual steering set-up. Thinking about going with power steering from a junk yard 4 door f-lane. Do I need to change the steering box from the power steering car with the maunual steering set-up I have? Thanks in advanced.

Yes, the box is a different ratio at the least. The connection may be different? I think some boxes had a long shaft attached that was fed through the column. Should you do the swap, how much would you sell the pitman arm and drag link for, if you were selling. You can email me at fairlaniac@fairlanet.com

I will first have to do some investigating at the junk yard but I'll hang on to your e-mail. Thanks a lot.

Here is a spec sheet from the service manual and the tag codes to look for as well as box ratios.

Wonder what problems I would run into if I was able to use the manual box with the power drag link, if at all possible. Thanks for the chart.

If you meant put a power drag link and power ram on a manual car, I think the steering will be way too sensitive. Every time you touch the wheel you'll be changing direction.

Okay, I needed some kind of answer like what all of ya'll gave me. I'll try to get a price for the whole thing, from column, steering box, drag link, power valve, pitman arm, idler arm, etc.

I'm really only interested in the manual pitman arm but thanks. I just bout a manual steering adapter from Mustangs Plus and installed it tonight along with my Granada brake swap.
