Shorty headers for \'64 289?

I am slowly accumulating parts for the rebuild of the 289 in my 64 Fairlane. It will be a mild build with a Performer 289 manifold, 600 Performer carb, XE250H cam, and C8OE 68 4V heads with a little exhaust port cleanup.
I am considering the 289 HiPo manifolds and the Hooker 6134 headers. As an alternative, does anyone offer a set of shorty headers that will easily fit in this car?

My 1966 Fairlane has a 302. I put Heddman "shorty" headers on and they fit very well. With the Flowmaster "American Thunder" duals it sounds great and made a noticeable difference in performance. Good luck.

Was it a straight bolt-in? No clearance problems around motor mounts, etc? Do you know the part number? Anybody know if they will fit a 64?

I tried the shorty Hedmans in my 64. They were hitting on the shocktower. Went with the Hooker 6134's
Fit great. You have to use 90deg plug wires though.

truedog, you will not find any aftermarket shorty style headers for the early 62-65 fairlanes. They are all for 66 and later Fairlanes. Sometimes they misprint the application, and might say their shorties fit a wide range of years like 63-73 or something. Hedman did this when they first released their shorty header for the early small block in a fairlane. Either use original or reproduction 289 High Performance exhaust manifolds or the Hooker 6134, those are just about your only options.

oh, I forgot to mention Doug's Headers makes a Tri-Y that will fit 62-65, it's part # D662Y. They're pretty great fitting headers and great quality, just make sure to refinance your home and cash any savings bonds before ordering them.

I can tell you without hesitation that Hooker 6134-1 HK fit perfect. I just
installed a set. There may be a few extra's you have to do but it's well
worth it, especially the inner/outer coated ones. See the other Fairlane site
for complete instructions.

Sorry for the confusion - the post never made the site cause I
had the wrong password. For these headers, the instructions are
as Hooker says for the passenger's side. Depending on weather
your tranny is pan-fill or case-fill requires a slight but easy mod.
For pan-fill the dip tube has to be moved to the driver's side which
is really simple without buying a new tube. If you have to go this
route post a request and I'll give the instructions.
The driver's side is easier that the passengers without jacking the
car really high unless you have access to a hoist. Merely remove
the rocker cover, master cylinder (and booster if applicable ) and
the header drops right in from the top. You need about 1/32
more clearance at the very front of the head where the rocker
cover sits on the head but you just have to give the engine a little
nudge and the header goes right in.
These are beautiful headers when installed and look "boss" if you
opt for the dual coated. Using a combo of 135 degree and 90
degree wires there is not a single spot where the headers can
overheat the wires and the clearance at the tranny shifter (auto)
is more than adequet.
