Spark plug gap and base timing...

What is the best gap to set the plugs for a hotter coil (crane ps20 used with the XR-i electronic conversion)? i know for my 93 F150 i used .055 but im not sure what to use for this.

also, what is the best streetable base timing setting? i seen a few people run 12-16 BTDC.

i know you dont have the duraspark but this is a good read and talks about the settings you may need when it comes to timing. i would gap it at 35 to 40 but thats just me. i have mine at just below 45

ok thanx, we dont have a timing gun ATM so we didnt set the timing (im assuming its OK from the previous owner). we'll fart around with that when we get possession of one (not going to be driven more than 50 miles between now and then).

we got everything installed and it purrs like a kitten. before it would stumble above 3500 rpm. ah, 5K blasts with a 390 FE sounds badass!

we used:
Crane XR-i electronic conversion kit
Crane PS-20 coil
Autolite 45 plugs gapped to .050
Taylor 8mm spiropro wires (red)
Summit cap/rotor (brass contacts)
