\'67 Fairlane GT

Hello, I am looking a '67 Fairlane GT... I partially decoded the date plate and have found that this car is an original GT, but is/was a 289 car instead of a 390 car, as the hood indicates. The current setup is 351W/auto... It's in pretty nice shape but needs a lot of TLC and detailing... What do these cars go for? I know it's dumb to ask for values but I can't find any information on the web to see if the price is inline.

The car needs most of the small chrome pieces redone, the interior redone (though serviceable). It seems very solid, it has new 1/4s, the bodywork is pretty good, the only work I am not impressed with is the repaired front floor pans. I think with a summers worth of work this car would be a very sharp looking driver... What do these sell for as a nice driver?

In '67, GT's could be had with the 289 also... what is the 5th digit in the VIN? an S,Z, or X denote a 390. 289's had A or C's.... the hood spears could have been swapped from another car... HTH

That's a tough question without seeing it. You may have to consider how much you are willing to put in a car to get it like you want it. A big block would probably be worth more in the ' desire department'. Money goes awfully fast when restoring a car. If you bought it for two grand you'll have ten in it pretty quickly if you have to replace all the rubber, body work, paint, interior, suspension, drive train, and so on and so forth.

Hey man, Just a headsup.

I have been banging on a 66 ford since october, built 289, seriuosly abused...here is some stuff to look for, rust in the rain gutters at the c pillar, in the trunk around the gas tank...if you have wholes here its worse somehwere else.

ALso, pe very prepared to overpay for stuff on ebay. It's ridiculous. If you happen to find a part like light bezels or tailights or a grille that isnt knackered, your gonna pay though the arse.

In the past I have done a lot parts buying on the net, but these things appear to be pretty freakin rare right now. Another kicker is that big companies dotn stock a lot of the stuff for these. I love mine, it's been great, but I had to get used to really tryin to find parts....

GOod luck bro!

in so far as parts go, ebay is dodgey, like velomech says. a good junkyard can be invaluable. you live in pittsburgh, right? go online and look for local car clubs. the drifters or the sacred pistons are decent guys, they might be able to help. it's always good to get to know your local greasers.
