Another shock tower question

I'm in the middle of installing Crites shock tower kit on my 64 and may have a problem. In the instructions he says a minumum of 23 1/2 inches is needed between the A frame platforms. Well, mine are just at 23 inches at the closest point (closest to the firewall). Does this mean I'm not gonna have enough room for the crites 460 headers? Just thought some of you may remember what measurements you had when performing this mod.
Thanks much!

Re: Another shock tower question

Mine was like that initially too. I just kept hitting it with the grinder until it was where I needed to be. Do you have the caps welded onto the upper control arm supports yet?

Did the shock tower close up a little when you welded it up? You might be able to spread it a little with the upper and lower "export" braces. .The more room you have the better but you can always ding a tube to clear it.

Re: Another shock tower question

Thanks for the reply. Yea, I did kinda forget to check the bottom measurement before I welded the gussets under the platform. So I ended up with 23 1/8 spread between the platforms. I just cut back to where I thought I was getting too close to the a arm mounting holes and welded it up. I think I can make a couple small cuts and do a little heatin and beatin to get the right spread. The top of the towers measure pretty much right at 27 1/2, so I hope that will be wide enuogh. Thanks again.
