Ford Fairlane 1962. inlinesix to 351w swap

Hello!

My name is David and I'm from Sweden, so my english may not be the best.

I own a ford fairlane 1962 witch is equipped with a inlinesix 170ci and a 3speed manual gearbox.

Now i got a hold of a 1972 351w engine with a c4 automatic

I'm wondering how to solw (spelling?) the engine mounts. Does any one have pictures of the orginal 221/260/289 v8 mounts to fairlane 1962-1964 ?

how bad fits the rest of the transmisson? any one who's done a similary swap?

Someone needs to answer. If you do not know how to fabricate things or are afraid to learn I might suggest you don't do this. The 351 is taller and wider than the 221 to 289's that came in the early cars. If you want to buy the crites kit or modify the towers yourself, that is what it will take. later small blocks also have wider engine mounting bosses, but that is easy fix. Take a look at crites site and see what they offer. It may give you a start. I bet you could find a turbo Volvo motor. But if you really want to do this you will be able to smoke a couple Volvos. ebay is a good source.

Re: Ford Fairlane 1962. inlinesix to 351w swap

Iv installed the 351w in my 64 wagon. I used the stock 289 motor mounts. I will see if I have any pictures of the mounts. I trimmed the shock towers back. I cut out just enough so a flat plate wouldnt hit the coil spring. You can leave the control arms exposed. I might have pictures of this as well.
I ran a c-4 behind the 351w with no problems. Used the same rear mount if Im not mistaken.
Check out my website Midnight Angel Racing.. I also have a forum, you can get to the forum from the main menu.

cheers
Charlie
