What's it worth?!

does anyone have an idea what an original 64 289 Hi-Po motor is worth?

I have two, one in the car that is a late 64 ford "racing" Hi-Po and one on the shelves...in pieces that is the original 289 Hi-Po that came in the car.

both are in good condition, the one in pieces has only 15,000 miles on it as it was pulled in 68 in favor of the "racing" one.

as far as i can tell both are identical except for the "racing" having a higher comp. ratio and it has been balanced and blueprinted.

any info would be helpful.

Thanks,

Re: What's it worth?!

They are worth quite alot. I would keep the original one with the car. Even though they wern't vin stamped there is a # stamped above the clutch equlizer bar boss that matches up to when the car was built. Here is a photo of mine

It was the 920 th hipo motor assembled.

If you want to seel the race motor the Hipo Mustang ourm would be the place to ask value of the parts. Right now hipo motors part out for more money than they do whole.

HiPo Mustang eKschange

If you are selling the car let me know and I will post a for sale ad on the Fairlane Club of America web sight for you. You have to be a member to post there.

Re: What's it worth?!

Thanks for the info. Car is NOT for sale!

My god father left it and all the parts he collected from 1965 to 1993 to me.

five rear gear sets, three in carriers, the extra (original) motor, three hurst shifters, one stock, as well as a garage full of misc. parts.

Anything that was bought for or removed from the car since the day he bought it is still there.

at some point I may be selling some of the misc. and extras but right now I'm just gathering info.

Thanks, again

Re: What's it worth?!

Glad to hear you are keeping it. Might be a good time to join the FCA. The Hipo Mustang sight is freindy to Fairlane owners and is full of good info.

Let me know if you want to sell any of the parts as I would be interested?
