Talking Will Tires Fit? 68 Fairlane

Just wondering if 275/60/15 tires will work on the rear of my 68 fairlane
with 15x8 magnums and 4 1/2 bs..seems like it will work by measurement, but worried about tire hitting the spring. Any input would be greatly appreciated

If you have a tire mounted on rim you want jack car up and put it on to be sure . I was close on 66 fairlane and had to take a hacksaw to cut part of shock support away from scrubbing . Jack fender out with a jack as well but I got mine on with 1 inch to spare in and out .

Re: Will Tires Fit? 68 Fairlane

I was told they would fit by a couple guys, but that they would be very close, and you would need to eliminate all body roll, or they would rub. I went with 255/60 on 15x8's with 4.5 bs, and they are very close on the fender side (maybe 1 inch after I rolled the lips over). They have about 1.5 inch on the spring side. If I was gonna run 275's, I would relocate the springs and bring the wheel in a little so you don't rub the fenders. They may fit, but they are gonna be tight. My 255's rubbed in the corners until I got new leaf springs and a new front sway bar (1 1/8) and rolled the fender lips up. let us know, I may have to step up to a bigger tire if I get the engine I want .

I can get you pix if you want to see....

I ran 15 x 8 crager street stars with 4 1/8" backspacing with bfgoodrich 295/50/15s by only rolling the lip of the fender. keep in mind it is very tight and if you've got clan in the back seat, it'll rub. and sometimes rub on the spring. i downgraded to vintage wheel works v45s. 17 x 9.5" 5" bs and 285-40s tires. on the front, 17 x 8" 4 3/4" bs with 235-45s. attached is a couple of pics after the new wheels and tires, they freed up some room. oh, its a 68 torino fb. more pics on my images.

Re: Will Tires Fit? 68 Fairlane

Well here are the shots of the car..tires fit perfect.fronts are too big, will change them to 225/70 15.The tire does not rub or scrap under any condition..but i will probly cut an 1/8 of an inch just to be safe.
Thank you all for your input and help!!!!
