brake drum question

Hey Guys, I've got everything I need to replace every part on my rear drum brake assemblies. I've got the new matching shoes and new drums and was wondering do I need to have the new drums turned before I do this repair?

Re: brake drum question

Only if the surfaces aren't nice and symmetrical...

If they are, then run them

If not, turn them.

Wink Re: brake drum question

I heard of one case where some drums must have been sitting on edge for 20 years and they were no longer round. As FE said..put em on.

Re: brake drum question

Thanks Guys, that just makes it easier for me....the last brake job I did was back in "77". I lost my brake tools or they got carried off and If I remember right you do need some special tools for putting those springs back on.
