Re: 66/67 idler arms ?

I don't know about that Perk....that could be a wrong number for that part. I'd have to go with the one like mine. Did you check out that Coolparts.com site to see what else might show up?

Re: 66/67 idler arms ?

Yeah I checked out Coolparts and they list the same idler arm for all 66 to 69 Fairlanes. I did take the one that i have like yours and put it up against the black one in the photo that i posted and they pretty much match as far as the two ends are concerned and the angle comes out the same. One just has a curve between the two connecting points and one is just a straight angle. So I think they are the same just variations of the same. I believe the red one in my photo is also the same but someone along the line somewhere put it together backwards. So I think I am good and sure have learned alot about idler arms in the last couple of days...LOL

Re: 66/67 idler arms ?

I once had a Cougar with odd-ball idler arms that seemed to beat out every two years.

Found the rubber based ends at one place for less than $10 each. Pressed out remains of one with socket and a piece of pipe, and then installed newest one. Took all of two minutes.

I had extra idler arms, so went back and bought more of the stock. And then pressed out the beat up ends and now have a spare sitting on shelf which I know will fit for it was once on the auto.

Simplier to replace the ends than whole unit.

Wm.
