56 Fairlane 460 Swap (HEADERS/Toploader?)

I have a 56 Fairlane. I have a 460 just about ready to put in....for the tranny...I have a 4 speed toploader out of a 65 Galaxie. I am planning to buy the crites motor mounts. Does anyone know of any other way to get this engine to fit without going with the crites motor mounts or know of another company that makes motor mounts or headers or tranny mounts for a toploader...most tranny mounts for the 460 set up are for C6 trannys...also...any recommendations for the clutch linkage/zbar...etc...set up on this....hydraulic clutch kit??....any help would be great...thanks, Kenneth. You could always put a mustang II front end under it and then your options are limitless. .discs, big headers, power steering, etc. .

Re: 56 Fairlane 460 Swap (HEADERS/Toploader?)

You're not going to like this, but here goes; about 6 months ago I bought a low mlg 460, in hopes of a mean 56 Customline. After the purchase, I contacted Dennis Carpenter, who sent me to Total Performance, who sent me to Fat Man Fab. I cant remember the guys name, but his cars' pic is on their website ( I'm sure if you ask for the '56 ford guru you'll get him) .. ANYWAY, he has done this 460 swap 2 different ways (1) raise the engine ABOVE the frame horns for the coil springs- which also means raising the tranny tunnel (2) sub-framing, and they do sell a kit to do this...for $3500!! Well, I've now built up a 351w that fits just fine, and should make about 350hp... but as my luck goes I've recently learned that a FE block will fit between the frame ok ( its more of a "Y" block ). So if your dead set on a 460, call Fat Man's. OR do what I should've and drop in a 390- it'll be cooler anyways!!
