64 Tubbed

We want to put the biggest tire possible under our 500 without moving in the frame rails.Bare with me I havent got our car yet,next weekend, but trying to find all the best way to do it!! I assume the leafs will have to be recessed into the frame railsannd such in the back. 13 .5 inches of clearanc with The complete factory tubs gone is what I have read??We want to put 15 by 10 wheels(Pacer weld wheel copys) What size Tires would work ???Will this work???enough room??/ I just like to plan before hand !!1 Any ideas and suggestions Thanks Dave

Dave on my 63 the leaf springs where not the problem the frame was mini tubbed to the frame max 8'' rim right back space would be able to put 26x8 mickey t ET's fit

I did the mini tub on my 64 with steel rims at a offset set at 5 1/2" I fit a 28 11.5 et street under it with a little room all around.

if you narrow the rearend to 49.5", you can mount a more common 15x8 w/ 4.5" backspace and a 28x10.5 with very minor triming of the lower forward portion of the wheel well opening and nothing else. .

any of you guys have any pics of their mini tubs? ive cut out my wheel wells and slightly nochted the frame rail and they fit still havnt ordered a rear end yet.

Has anyone done a full tub to the frame?? just seems there would be more room with the outer wheelhouses gone too!!

on my 65 i took everything out slightly nochted the frame rail and am in the process of making new sheet metal tubs.

67mills,
On my second 65 I installed a 9" narrowed about 3/4" per side, then widened the wheelwell to the frame rail, including removing the lip on the frame rail and using a Weld Wheel Pro Star 15x8 with 3.75" backspacing, I managed to fit a BFGoodrich T/A 295-50-15 with lots of clearance on both sides of the tire. Not I've just got to get around to finishing the rest of the car.
