57 Retractable problems

The driver's side deck lid lock screw won't unscrew from the deck lid lock assembly. I removed the retaining screw to the deck lid lock assembly so I could raise the deck lid. The flexible drive shaft and lock screw turn when commanded. However after comparing it with the other side, it looks like the inner most part of the deck lid lock nut that has the threads is a separate piece that can rotate a little on its own? I can turn the deck lid lock assembly, but it just spins without unscrewing the threads. It appears that inner most part of the lock nut that has the threads is stuck on the lock screw and spinning free inside the lock nut itself. I have no idea how to separate the housing and the screw at this point. Can anyone help, or at least maybe point me to a dedicated Skyliner forum where I could get some help? (this is the closest technical forum I've been able to find). Thanks!

1957 Ford, 1958 Ford, 1959 Ford,International Ford Retractable Club

There is a special separate service manual for the Skyliners that will detail operation and repair. EvilBay is a good source.

Re: 57 Retractable problems

Thanks for your reply. I do know of the Skyliner club, but unfortunately there is no sort of discussion forum on that site. Also I do have the Retractable Hardtop Manual but unfortunately it doesn't specifically cover this sort of situation.
