shift linkage

I have installed the 6134 headers in my 65 fairlane,but what I need help with now is the column shifter.I was told a couple of things to try,but has anyone done this mod with this set up?

I used a floor shifter instead of column shift.

I was going to put in a floor shifter from a 65 stang,but kept the column shifter.I was able to make a few bends and make it work.
