Tire help

Hey guys,
Here is the question of the day for you, I'm building a drag car out of my 64 post car and need help with tire fitment. The class I want to run will allow me 10 inch slicks but I can't change the wheel houses, so no mini tubs or any other alterations. I can change the rearend width to whatever I need and I can also roll the wheel lips. Now the question is can I fit a 10 inch slick under the cars stock wheel houses? I've measured quite a few times and it appears that I can but has anyone tried it and if so what combination are you running. My goal is to fit 28x10 slicks under it so lets hear what any of you have tried. Thanks for the help.

Re: Tire help

I have 275/60/15 Nitto drag radials on mine. THey are 28" tall about 9" wide. They are on 15x8 Weld Draglites with 5.5" backspace. I have 9" out of '59. That rear end is like 3/4 to 1" wider than the stock 8"

I also have ladder bar rear suspension under mine. The rear end has also been moved back about 2 inches. I had to trim the outer wheel lip and "massage" the inner lip, just slightly.

If you don't move the rear end back I don't think you can run a 28" tall tire. IT will hit the front of the wheel well.

Pete
