Anyone have an extra '68-'69 Black dash pad ?

Looking to buy a '68-'69 black dash pad {Ranchero, Torino, Fairlane} in as good a shape as possible {no mildew, rips, tears, cracks, etc}. Been watching ebay and cl but nothing. Need pics and a price. Thanks, Jon

Re: Anyone have an extra '68-'69 Black dash pad ?

I ended up with a maroon dash myself. It is in considerably better shape than the two black pads I have. I haven't decided if I'm going to dye it black or not since the maroon matches my paint. Last year I called Just Dashes about restoring one and they said it would be about $1100 + shipping. Thats why I got a maroon one. Be wary of Ebay sales because the dashes usually dont show the pad separation or the rust on the backside. Obviously, you would know what might be better than yours though. Nobody repros them yet or even makes a dash cap.

Re: Anyone have an extra '68-'69 Black dash pad ?

This is why I'm contemplating just replacing the entire dash with a custom setup. I pulled my original pad our years ago and have grown used to the extra room. Seems like it would be pretty easy to replace the whole dash setup and give you an option for a custom gauge cluster while you're at it.

My pad surface was breaking down into a googy mess, always sticky and uncleanable - at least I never found a way to clean it.

I'm actually using for a mod in my 68 Falcon. I agree that restorations of the pads are wayyy expensive and when dealing with ebay, I ask for good clear pics from all sides/angles.

Have you ever tried saddle soap ? After scrubbing, you just wipe it off with a clean damp rag a few times. Jon
