Fairlane Value

Is it me, or do Fairlanes not seem to be worth much? You see Mustangs for ungodly amounts of money and Fairlanes seem to be worthless.

Re: Fairlane Value

I don't think for a second that that car is original. Not one tiny second.

Fairlanes are great car's, and in general they get more money than a mustang on a as built basis.

It's the Fastback mustangs and the Shelby's that get the money, just like the Real Thunderbolt Fairlane going for $80K and higher...

But generally speaking they're a $1500 to $4000 dollar car...

Re: Fairlane Value

I agree with the above, most Fairlane should be about 1500-4-5K If their super clean original and low miles then 8-10K is what is. but yeah that post coupe above is crazy. I grew up in a vintage mustang owning family and don't pay attention much to the prices on them, but do know a 67-69 GT fastback was not over 10-15K in the 90's It's suprising what they bring in now.

Re: Fairlane Value

even though mustang prices are way up there especially here in los angeles they sell for a lot less usually $15,000 to $17,000 for a mint 65-66 c code fastabck and about $20,000 for a GT. a good shell will bring about $3500.00 and i know a few guys that buy and sell mustangs. the over seas buyers will pay about triple and i know 2 guys that have sold about 200 65-66 mostly fastbacks to australia over the last 15 years. a lot of our classic cars ford-chev-mopar have ended up overseas due to the HIGH dollar paid !

Re: Fairlane Value

You know this is something that realy puzzles me! The 68-69 fairlane/torinos and the 70-73 torinos dont realy have that great of a resale value. WHY??

There great looking inside and out and most of them came with killer engines and drive trains, I just dont get it....

I have a friend of mine in Mass. that wants me to try to find him some muscle cars to look at here in Florida when he comes to vist soon, becouse he is possible looking to buy one and drive it back. He is interested in a southern car becouse theres no rust and there just cheaper down here. I keep finding myself pushing him tords the late 60s early 70s torinos becouse it seems like he can get the most bang for his buck wich is around 5K or 6K. He likes all of the big three too. So Ive been looking at all makes and models and the old fords just seem to be cheaper in sale price.

It just baffles me.....! Today I looked at nice restored dodge dart GT 340 4speed and its in about the same shape as my 68 fairlane witch is super clean inside and out and runs great and was he asking 20K for it, and he showed me some car report on it and it said 36K. He said with the econimy and things the way they were with money that he'd let it go for 20K. Ide be lucky to get 6K or 7K for my ford.... Then I looked at late 60s GTO and he wanted 20K firm dont get me rong it was nice. On the ride home I saw a smokey and the bandit trans am so I turned around and took a look at it and it was also fully restored in beautifull shape he was aking 15K firm for it......

Florida seems to be filled with muscle cars. In my nieghber hood alone thers about 1/2 dozen to a dozen of them.

But "WHY" do the old fairlane/torinos not sell for much?????

Re: Fairlane Value

First off... NAMES sell... It's not the car, its' the name of the car.

Secondly, the Mustangs you see where some idiot is asking $50K it's still there month after month, because NOBODY is paying $50,000 bucks for a stang, it's the asking price only.... 340 Dart is YUCKY, it's ugly, and it's everywhere... The 440 Dart and 383 Dart are the ones that are rare, or non existent that bring Big bucks...

The auto reports are superbly bull schitt. None of the reports come anywhere near what the car is actually worth.

Each restored or original car is worth a different amount and it's ALL according to the buyer. Each individual car is different enough to differ more than $40,000 in price! Nobody realizes it though....
