Exhaust System

Does anyone know if '65 Falcons and Mustangs
have the same or similar floor pans, undercarriage, etc.

Flowmaster makes a system for '65 Mustangs that includes an H-pipe, mufflers, and tail pipes. Will the system also fit a '65 Falcon?

Thanks,

Scott

I used the flowmaster 2.5" tailpipes on my 65. Had to cut about 15" off the ends, but other than that they fit pretty good. It's pretty much a straight shot from the headers back to the tailpipes, so I don't see how the mustang ones could be much different.

Just get a cheap tubing cutter and adjust as necessary.

Thanks for the info 1965falcon.

I have a T5 manual trans in my '65 Ford. I was curious if you are running an h-pipe on your car and if there were any tranny clearance issues at the "H" portion of the pipe.

Thanks Again.

I'm working on the H pipe, still trying to figure the best place to put it. I don't think there will be any clearance problems, most likeley it will go beneath the yoke off of the C4.

I'll probably use 2" on the H pipe instead of 2.5" pipe to make it easier.

Get a picture of your car in!

Thanks for the info.

The Flowmaster kit comes with a 2-1/2" Dia
H-Pipe. I agree that 2" pipe would fit easier. I called Flowmaster and they said that they weren't sure if the system would fit a Falcon. I'm leaning towards buying the system and doing the mods myself. Some of the so called exhaust experts in my area are hacks.

I'll have to figure out how to post a picture
of my project.

Thanks.

I put an H pipe on the Pelican an it gives me two things most people don't talk about. Stability and removability. Oh, and a bonus driveshaft safety loop. It really stabilizes the entire exhaust system by tying the two together. No more rattling pipes! I've also made it an H Pipe that is removable. I've got header collectors in front of the mufflers so the H pipe comes all the way out with minimal effort. That helps when you play transmission games all the time!

It is a great mod for any Falcon!

Ummm, I think the driveshaft would rip right through the exhaust pipe if it ever let go.

You're probably right. Depends on the circumstances I guess. Anyway, that's not the reason I made it. Just wanted an H pipe that would be removable.
