I agree. Everyone who knew anything about it and had done it before when I swapped my v8 in told me the same. They made v8 cars in 62 and all the 63s have v8 upper and lower control arms. Same as early mustang, too, if you want to rebuild cheap. Centerlinks, tie rods etc are different.

This is what I did to put Granada Disc on a '60 front end. All these parts are from a '63 V8 Falcon: replaced the upper and lower control arms, steering box, (.. And bolts, The '60 has 5/16" and the '63 used 3/8" ) pitman and 2 bolt idler arm, (3 bolt arm wont match up) strut rods, steering stops, center link, tie rod sleeves, inner tie rods. I swapped the tie rods around ( inner to outer) to use the correct threads with '63 V8 parts. I used my springs and spring perch. The '60 perch has bearings whereas the later Falcons has a bushing. I got the spindles, calipers, splash shield, rotor, brake hose clamp, brake hose, and outer tie rods from a 76 Granada V8 from the junkyard. Then bought new parts that was questionable, along with adapters to connect the brake hoses and a piece of hard line to go from the original brake line to the rubber hose.

this is from another site??

As noted, the early 6 cylinder cars and other exceptions will require a swap to V8 front linkage (center link, inner tie rods

The upper and lower control arms and ball joints on you '63 are the same for a V8 and 6.All '63 and up use the same upper arm which is the same as a early Mustang. The lower arm and ball joint is the same for '62 and up except for early '62 cars like mine.

So the Granada spindles will bolt to your ball joints and you can get sleeves to allow the use of your 6 banger tie rod ends which will save the expense of buying V8 spec stuff. I saw the sleeves on www.mustang steve.com I wish the sleeves were available when I did the Granada swap on my car.

there is a difference

It is not a question of V-8 or not on the control arms. In mid year 63 they changed the upper ball joint from a 3 bolt to a 4 bolt arrangement. You need the 4 bolt control arms for the disc swap. If you have the 3 bolt arms you will have to change them for late 63 and later arms or even mustang arms which are the same.
