Has Anyone Done a "Mini-tub?"

I am looking to put 9 inch rims in the rear of my 1963 Falcon and I am looking for any information that will help me with the operation of widening the wheel wells to fit the equivalent fat tires.

Yea.. I am curious also about this car here. Is it using a Mini-Tub to fit these tires under the rear or is this using the correct offset and max width tire combo?

(Apparently Village Photos is having issues with posting photos.. so I'm including a direct page link.. see the car here: http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpub...sp?id_=1259537 )

Anyone know anything about the tire combo or this car specifically?

Thanks

I did it on my 65 Falcon to fit 28 x 11.50 x 15 Hoosier Pro Drags.

Got pics of it all here but, can't post anthing since my computer is all screwed up!

Sorry guys, it will be at least two weeks before I'm back up to normal computer running stuff.

I have the crites relocation kit on mine and it will accomodate 10" wheels. They recommed you narrow the rear 2" per side, but I'd think you could get away with it if you compensate with different offset wheels. I went with 8" rims and 295/50/15 bfg's and I did have the rear narrowed.

fxcomet,
Did you add mini-tubs or just relocate the springs. I'm thinking about re- locating the springs, and running a narrower rear-end. I would really like to keep the stock tank though. Is it possible without too much hassle? If I cant run the stock tank, I'm seriously considering running 225/70 McCreary tires with a narrower rear-end. I'm hoping to build a pretty serious budget-minded nitrous-inhaling sleeper

Where can I find the Crite Kit? Also, can anyone provide the blow by blow of what gets cut, moved, and/or added?
Thanks,

I moved the springs inboard on my Falcon with some home fabricated mounts and had to move the stock gas tank so it was centered in the car. The rear end is a 9 inch made to the same width as a 63 Falcon V8. With 4.5 back spacing 7 inch wide Pro Stars the biggest tire that fits is a 8.5 tread width 26X10.50X15 MT Street. Some 8 inch wheels and 10 inch tread width 26X11.5X15 MTs would fit if the car was mini tubbed which may happen someday.

Those tires on that white '63 in the pic don't seem very big to me.

Mine is not tubbed at all and I run the stock tank. The Crites kit is first rate in quality and really pretty simple to do, providing you can weld. The only problem we encountered in doing mine was the shock mounting tabs had to be extended out a little to avoid interference with the axle. The instructions with the kit are easy to understand. I'll have the car back from the paint shop this week and I'll try to get some decent pics posted for everyone.
