Floor pans and a engine bay question

Hi!

Does anyone knows were I can get some floor pan patch panels for my 1964 Falcon?

Also, does the engine bay for a 1964 Falcon larger in dimension than a 1963?

Thanks

Terry

This place sells good stuff!

www.dearbornclassics.com they have all the floorpans you need!

I think the engine bays are about the same in size on those two years of Falcons.

Floor pans and a engine bay question

OK, this is going to be hard for an idiot like me to describe, but the engine bay in a 64 is both bigger, and the same size as a 63. As the shock towers are the same distance apart, they are the same width. The difference is in the lower portion of the shock tower, right about where the upper control arm bolts on. This is the narrowest point in the engine bay. In a 63 the center rib of the shock tower has a rounded contour, where the 64 is flattened. The flat shape is the same as in an early Mustang. The flattened center rib provides about 1/2" per side more clearance. On the d.s. this is where your header hits the s.t. This is why its easier to get headers for a 351w in a 64 than in a 63.

I was comparing my engine compartment in my 63 falcon to my brothers 66 mustang(which is the same as a 64 falcon I think). At first glance they appear to be almost identical. There are several differences though. The shock towers are a little narrower,in particular the main support part that runs down the middle of the shock tower is round on my 63 and its flat on the mustang,This gives you some valuable extra header room. Also the frame rails were a little closer together on the falcon.I'm assuming the early mustang and the 64-65 falcon are the same because every set of headers I've ever bought says they will fit these cars but it never says they will fit the 6o-63s.

I like Dearborn too, especially some of their reproduction stuff, but find them a bit pricey on some items. I got some very high quality floor pans for my '61 from Kanter Auto Products. You might compare prices.
