New radiator's in and so far, so good

I wired in my spare ignition box to get the car running while the Mallory box goes back for testing. The new Summit 31x19 radiator is in and get tested today in the garage. The fan t-stat didn't work very well - the motor got to 220 before I chickened out and jumpered the 16" to make it run. The 12" runs all the time. Once the 16 got going, it pulled the temp right down were it needed to be - about 195~200. I let it idle for a good while, increasing the revs once in a while, and it held temp the whole time. Not as good a test as it'll get in the staging lanes in July, but it was 80+ in the garage. So I have confidence it will do Ok. I stopped by Pep Boys and picked up an adjustable t-stat so I can tune the fan on time. ($40! )

Now if I can just get an ignition box I can count on

I would imagine that your radiator support apron is about the same as my '69 is.

Did you have to massage much to make that Summit unit work for you Chris?

Got any pics?

Some pics here: http://users.abilene.com/~dkelly/hotrod/newmotor4.html

I was able to cut the support to expose the whole core side-to-side and still leave the grill brackets. The top of the support remains, but the most of the bottom part of it was removed to mate with the side cuts.

Thanks I figured I'd just get the big one and be done with it. So far, it's working out. If I have excess cooling capacity - good, because I'll eventually cram some more cubes in there. I feel like going to work tomorrow - finally - so I'll get to wiring the adjustable t-stat. The kickdown is a Lokar product.
