I AM JUST ABOUT TO GET THIS LITTLE BIRD READY TO PAINT AND AM LOOKING FOR OPTIONS ON REBUILDING THE FRONT END. i AM DOING THIS FOR MY GIRL BUT AM LOOKING TO BUY IT BACK WHEN SHE GETS RID OF IT. i AM INSTALLING A GOOD 170 6CYL WITH A 3 ON THE FLOOR. i HAVE ALREADY NARROWED A 8.8 POSI AND HAVE IT UNDER THE CAR BUT NEED TO DO SOMETHING WITH THE FRONT END IN ORDER TO SOMEDAY DROP IN A V8. Can you give me some help with the front end. A totally new front end for the 6cyl. is about 500$ so what will the cost be to use the V8 and where is it avalible and what kind of ride would it give with the 6cyl. Hope you all can help. Not in a gig hurry but want to order parts in the next couple of weeks.

You could install either 5 bolt drum brakes and spindals from a v8 falcon or mustang (63 to 67) or put disc brakes on (ford granada). The steering linkage would need to be from a 63 I believe (at least the centerlink). You can pretty much change over everything except the coil springs before you put in the v8.

Oh, and get rid of the fruit jar master cylinder and get a two chamber style. Not sure what years fit a 61, but I imagine a granada, maverick, etc would fit. Just make sure you get it for the right brake combination (disc/drum). A proportion valve may be necessary to if you go with the disc.

So a 170 eh? Don't want her getting into any street races I take it!

1967 dual master cylinder is what you will need. Get the drum/drum version if you decide on putting drums on the front or get the Disc/drum version if you go with the granada or other discs on the front..

I just used a "Mopar" dual line master. You can buy them out of most speed catalogs.

Just be sure to hang on to your plunger that connects the pedal with the master. I threw mine away with the old juice jar and had to go junkyard shopping.
