Crites vs MII

Hi

I need place for my 351w in my 60 dr and i need your opinion on this. My front is upgraded with all new parts from a 65 Mustang with discbrake. Should i swap in a MII front end or use a 64/65 Crites conv.kit for the shocktowers as i already have alot of cash in my present front end.

I've got a Mustang II in my '61 without shock towers and love it. But, if I had already done major upgrade, with discs etc., like you have, I would probably go with Crites conversion. You could still do the "Shelby" changes to the front end like negative wedge kit, lowered arms, etc., and it would handle very well and Crites would give you room for headers. You should know that the 351W will fit in the stock engine bay, but very tight. There are headers that fit, although changing plugs would be a bear. Ask Just Jim. He's got a 351W in his stock engine bay '62.

Hankyj

Is there any difference in the engine bay between 60-62? I`ve been told its bigger room for trans in 61-62 i could belive that, because i`ve had a 302/c4 in my car and had to use the hammer a bit. But i think i`m going to make a new larger tunnel so that i can move the engine backwards a couple of inches.

There is no difference in the engine bays from '60 through '63 to the best of my knowledge. I don't know absolutely "for sure", but I am awful darn close to thinking that's true.

Important note: These were designed to fit stock V-8 cars with AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. If you have swapped your motor, make sure your engine compartment configuration matches the original V-8 setup for proper clearance.

This is for doug thorly headers from dearborn classics

What does they mean by that?
