347 Stroker vs. 351 Winsor

I am redoing my 64 Falcon. I am torn between building a 347 Stroker or a 351 Winsor. I know that the car will haul with either motor. But I want the best overall results, not only in performance, but in drivability. I thought that I would get some opinions or advice from you guys. I am new to the forum, so please forgive me if I have brought up a redundant topic.

I like the 351 better. The block will take. For the same amount of money you will get more out of a 351.

I should have done a 351 over the 302. The stroker motor rocks if it's done right, but why not just start with the longer stroke block to begin with. If you want more, just stroke the 351 to 393.

I agree with all the above. I would start with a 351 and stroke that puppy out to 393. The block is very strong to begin with and with the extra cubes, hold on tight. Remember though, this will affect traction (there won't be any unless you do some mini-tubbing back there) and you'll need the right transmission to hold up to it. But yes, go with the 351 at least.

I'll third, fourth what everybody else said. Stroke the 351... I wish I'd gone that route.

351 to 393

Let's take the 351 all the way to a 427

351W. The block is much stouter and the CID potential is much greater.

351W based engine all the way. Not only is the block much much stronger, the reciprocating assembly is too. The crank has much larger main and rod journals which can ultimatly handle more power than the block can using a Scat cast crank.
