push rod removal...????

i have a master cylinder from an old Granada for my 4 wheel disc manual project. Problem is I stuck the push rod they gave me in there without thinking, I needed to use my old rod and now the little black clip on the end of the new one locked it in there...for good aparently. I pulled until my head was about to explode. Am I screwed and need to buy another master cylinder?

nevermind, i ended up running to Home Depot and got there 5 mins before they closed to buy a 3/8" die and a 7/8" long carriage bolt. Just shortened the rod and threaded on the bolt so now it is adjustable.

Words of wisdom: unless you have an adjustable push rod on your master cylinder do not insert it until you're positive you have the correct length. They were not meant to come out.
