When I first started this project a couple of month ago, the object was to utilize as many parts as I had laying around. I built up a large bearing, stock 28 spline axle, 56" wide rearend with a stock small bearing centersection with a mini spool. As the project has progressed, I really started to like this car, this is really fun!!! It is going to get a 1 5/8" diameter .134 wall NHRA legal 10 point rollcage as I have plans to attend some Fun Ford Weekend races. The stock axles were not going to be legal, and I was going to have to step up and buy some non-Lo Buck parts. I figured that I would up the HP in the future, so building a weapon rear end would be good insurance against breakage. I ordered up a set of Dutchman 35 spline alloy axles. I also got a deal on a Mark Williams 3.250 bearing nodular iron center section with billet bearing caps and a Daytona pinion support. It is going to use a Strange 35 spline full spool and a set of Richmond 5.14 fully polished and de-burred gears. This rear will never break!! Ok, enough of the hi-zoot stuff, I finished up my Lo Buck front wheels by painting the entire wheel a dark charcoal urethane, which gives them a magnesium look. I went to Wal Mart and bought a pair of Continental 205-75 14 tires for a grand total of $66.00. I also shortened the front strut rods to give the front ent about 10 degrees of caster, and also to give it the altered wheel base look. The ride height will be what it is in the pictures. Can anyone say Gasser?
