Just joined, looks like I\'m gonna buy a Falcon
F15Falcon, I'm going to reply to my own post here.
After a couple of nights reading posts in the forum I decided to finally look around the rest of the site and I just finished the feature article on your Falcon.
Bottom line, I'm just gonna go ahead and shut up now.

Mine is strip only for now as I don't even have a title on the car yet. I didn't want to get crazy on the gutting as I am probably going to sell the car in the future and someone will probably want to put it back on the street, that is why I left all the windows, regulators and dash intact. The best it has run is 11.90 at 4,000 ft. I am going to take it back out in a couple of weeks, and see what it does.

No way. Thats a published shipping weight and I guarrantee you it does not weigh that. Mine has 'glass hood, 'glass front bumper, light wheels, no rear seat (50~60 lbs there), no heater/AC unit and an aluminum fuel cell. With 5 gallons in the cell, the car weighs 3000 lbs. That's at San Antonio Raceway on a certified scale. It weighed 3140 with the real bumper, back seat and heater box. A two door might drop 100 lbs or so but not much more. The late models are not light by any means.

I should also add that my car has no back seat,no carpet, one aluminum racing seat, a two gallon fuel cell, no hood, no exhaust, an aluminum driveshaft, and a 'Glide. I agree with CKelly that the late models are not light, and to have one that is light with all the street amenities is going to be hard.

Welcome to the board. You may want to look at david key's website. He has pictures of his cage and talks about removing weight from his late model. Good luck on the project.

I'll be happy to look at anything anyone has done on one of these cars. How 'bout a link?
Geez, I think I better buy this car tomorrow when I go look at it. You've all made me feel like one of the guys already & I still don't own a Falcon (yet). I feel like I'll be letting you down if I don't.
Looks like from the weight responses that I'll be pretty lucky to trim this down to 2700 or so. That's alright tho'. I'm just so damn anxious to get on the track this season I'd probably run a '56 Buick if there was one handy!
