Cable clutch linkage conversion using a top loader 4 speed

Any suggestions on converting a top loader 4 speed in a 65 Futura to cable clutch linkage. I also have Hooker Competition headers. What needs to be changed.
Anyone familiar with this conversion.

Mustangs and Fords ran a complete do-it-yourself article on it. I'll look for the article. Maybe it is on their website. I think Ford Muscle did one on it also. The two seem to follow each other on some tech articles.

What reasons did you hear?
With the hydraulic system there’s no cable to stretch/break or obstruction from exhaust headers. Also there is no need for a clutch quadrant under the dash. I hear Mustangs have more room under the dash than a Falcon. If you decide on a cable set-up be prepared to modify the quadrant to fit. Then there is the length of the cable itself drooping all under the hood. Hydraulic clutch systems have came a long ways since the early ‘50’s, it is used in new cars including sport cars and race cars.

I was told the hydraulic systems leak and the slave cylinders have a short life. You have me interested, where do I get info.

Cable would be much easier to install, easier to maintain, very reliable, easier to find. All you will need is a pivot bolt for your bell housing, a mustang cable and quadrant(aftermarket ) bolt it to your pedal, run the cable and you're set.

I believe that with a cable setup, you'll also need a late model clutch fork setup. The cable pulls the fork instead of pushing it like a z-bar does, so you'll need the late model fork and you'll need the fork pivot on the far side of the hole in the back of the bellhousing (where the trans input shaft goes through). I had a hell of a time trying to get the right parts for my scattershield & had to do a pretty good bit of research on this.

i have a Lakewood bellhousing that i bought to utilize the cable set up. i believe it is intended for mounting a T-10 4 speed to a late 5.0/351w with diphram style presure plate. i actualy had it all setup in my Comet (not to the working point) but then sold the motor and i have since decided to eventualy go with a hydraulic setup. one problem i was running into though was the bellhousing didnt exactly fit nicely in the transmission tunnel. it is bigger so it was hitting the tunnel wich wouldnt allow the motor to sit completely level.
