aluminum radiator

hi all,
searched the archives and couldn't find anyone who has installed an aluminum radiator w/ electric fan that didn't have to do some modification. does anyone know of an
after market set up that is bolt up. this is
for a '65 falcon w/ 289. thanks.

a follow up question. when looking for a radiator for a '65 falcon can i simply look for one that fits '65 or '66 mustang? are they exactly the same? thanks.

I have a 64 Falcon Convertible with a 347 Stroker. I put an aluminum radiator from a 64/65 Mustang and installed a sidewinder fan from "The Fan Man". It works great. Clearance is an issue when you put an electric fan in your small engine bay, and going with the sidewinder fan this, solves that problem.

I used a cross flow out of a foxbody mustang. I had to mock up brackets, but it fits. I used an aluminum cross flow in the 66 Mustang, fits the same.

my problem has been to find a combination of radiator and
electric fan that will fit between the mounting flange on
the back of the grill and end of the water pump. when i
measured this distance i only got 4 1/2", barely. the
stock rad is 1 3/4" thick from mounting flange to back of
core, the griffin is 3" thick and needs a total of 6 1/2"
incl. the fan. has anyone foun a radiator and fan that will
fit in this space.

I also spaced my radiator back off the support an inch, and used the fan as a pusher between the grille and radiator. That too was my issue.

Frank, again see my response as I have an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. The fan is called a Sidewinder and mounts on the radiator and it gives me clearance about 3/4" between fan shroud and water pump snoot. I can install a belt without problems. If you want I can send you a pic via email. It works great and with temps even in the 100+ I was able to maintain my coolant in the 185-195 area. (fan kicked on/off in traffic) Ben

problem. ford racing now offers a shorty water pump just for this situation.

i should have added that this is the spacer that works with
my harmonic balancer.
