1966 Falcon Sportscoup Futura

I recently bought a '66 Sportscoup Futura and have noticed that there aren't many around. Was this a rare model?

It may not have been rare back in 66, but like all old cars it is getting rarer by the day. I see flatbeds loaded with at least 16 crushed cars every day, and they are all old 60's-70's cars. Play this little game the next time you are driving along. Count how many vehicles you come across that are carbureted. If you love old cars like me and my buddies, it will be a sobering reminder that the rides we grew up working on and taking for granted are rapidly disappearing on their way to china to be melted down. So, to answer your question, was it rare? Probably not. Is it rare today, definitely! I just recently rescued a 66 Comet 202 sports coupe and have been working on it. A friend of mine sent me a picture of the navy launching a 66 falcon off of an aircraft carrier. If I can find it I will post it here.

ddk, I just LOVE the look of a big boat of a wagon, with original "patina'd" paint and nice shiny wheels on it. Bitchin'.

Good luck with the 66, we need more late models to keep the faith.

So 2 days after we bought the care the original 289 let go. We are now having it rebuilt and are adding the following:

Crane Energizer Cam
Holley 4 Barrel 600cfm carb
Edelbrock Intake
MSD Ignition System
Dynomax Headers (and exhaust)

How much power should I expect to get out of these upgrades?
