valve train noise

I have a clicking in my rebuilt 289 engine.I did put in new new lifters but not valve springs What is the easy way to check for a broken spring.

Shine your timing light on them while the engine is running and looks for erratic movement. The strobe light will show if something is not right

How much oil pressure do you have?

Was clicking in my Cobra Jet for long time. Electric gauge sat at 1/2 mark. Put on simple mechanical one and it read 22 PSI. Just enough for bearings to survive, but not enough for the mush lifters. Found a blown gasket on oil pump where it bolts to block.

Speaking of noisy valve trains.....if you are running a high lift cam does the valve train become noisier than if a stock lift cam is being run?
